Artists and organizers capture 60 cents on every dollar. The other 40 cents?
Goes to middlemen who convinced the world that 15-25% platform fees plus "convenience charges" are just the cost of doing business.
They're not. They're extraction disguised as innovation.
I've operated in this industry for over a decade. Managed events across five countries. Worked with independent artists and international productions. The conversation is identical everywhere:
"We'd price tickets 30% lower, but the platform takes..." "We're barely profitable after ticketing fees..." "We have to exclude our core audience to maintain margins..."
This isn't a problem. It's a failure of imagination.
The incumbents had 20 years to build something better. They optimized for revenue extraction instead. They created artificial scarcity where none should exist. They built business models that profit most when artists and organizers struggle most.
When we started building Preplex, we asked one question :
What if we rebuilt ticketing around the people creating actual value instead of the platforms extracting it?
The result:
→ Transparent pricing that doesn't ambush attendees with surprise fees → Tools that help organizers scale, not just process transactions → Technology that treats artists as partners, not inventory → Global infrastructure from day one: US, Canada, UK, UAE, India
We're not here to compete in the existing game. We're here to change the rules.
The barrier between artists and their audiences shouldn't be a 25% tax collected by platforms that add minimal value beyond distribution. Every dollar we prevent from being extracted is a dollar that either reduces ticket prices or increases artist compensation.
Here's what we believe:
The future of live events isn't about controlling distribution. It's about democratizing access. Markets that extract maximum value from transactions inevitably get replaced by markets that create maximum value for participants.
To event organizers exhausted by platforms that take more than they give: Let's have a substantive conversation.
To artists tired of platforms keeping 30% of your earnings: We're building this for you, with you.
To investors who recognize obvious opportunities before they become obvious to everyone else: I'm interested in conversations with people who see what we see.
The live events industry doesn't need incremental improvement. It needs fundamental reconstruction.
We're not here to participate. We're here to replace.
